“Fall is looking good”

These are some old pictures, but pretty much what it looks here if I were to step outside right now:)

Yesterday I had a visit from Ezra and Hill at Fastboy Cycles in NYC  A nice pair of bike people excited to be in the bike making business. Ezra is a good photographer and has an eye for style.

Today I wasted some time looking at some space in the next town. To far away and real sketchy, but I had a very nice ride through the tree lined roads here…just a perfect 10 day in New England. I have some leads on some other shop spaces that I will be looking into. I managed to make the maps for the Open House ride and bought some road paint to make the turns on the course….I am about to head out now and do that. Betsy has the day off tomorrow and we are going to clean the shop up and do some other things to get ready for this Sat.

I saw some pictures on Flicker from the Oregon Manifesto Bike show. Wish I could have been there, looks very interesting and low key event. I have ideas of doing something like that here in New England, but do not have the time to assemble an event like that…I spend a lot of time and energy [money] for 3 events each year. NAHBS, Redbones bike to work week party and our Open House. However I have been thinking of more of a Transportation Fest…commuter and cargo bikes only and even bikes that are imported as long as they have the equipment [lights, racks etc…]

I did a bunch of work to the blog/site with new updates and photos on the bikes, options and philosophy page in hopes of making the site and decision making for my bikes easier to understand. I have more in store for that, but will have to do that later in the month…got to get some bikes done:)

I have had a lot of RSVPs for the Opening and we are really looking forward to meeting new people and to see many of our old and new friends.

A Cargo Bike and Utility Bike exhibition is a good idea. As far as I know there have been two events along these lines.

One was the Alt Wheels event at Larz Anderson which is now mostly cars with alternative sources of power – but who seemed to seemed to be interested only slightly in human power.

BTW, a huge thank you for your rollickingly good open house event. A success, judging by the number of smiles – about 50 people was it?

the cargo bike expo does sound great– perhaps you could get some kind of city involvement/organizational help/funding like they did here http://www.flickr.com/photos/janbeeldrijk/sets/72157606740725042/
