Betsy’s little brother plays for the MIT Wind Ensemble. Andrew did not go to MIT or work there, but he went to RPI and I guess these schools have some sort of kinship. Andrew talked his way into playing percussion, for the Wind Ensemble for the last 5 years. We really enjoy going in to see the concerts and this Saturday was the Spring concert. Betsy’s parents always drive in from Albany for the concerts and we most often go to Tommy Doyle’s for dinner and it was Saint Patrick’s day too.
We saw the ghost bike for the MIT grad student, Phyo N. Kyaw. The poor guy was just trying to make a left turn and got run over by a big truck. The news accounts I read in the paper made it looks as if is the riders fault….not. When I read the account in the paper I assumed it was one of those people that blow through this intersection all the time.
One of my favorite buildings in the MIT area is still standing. I am so afraid that someday it will be torn down. This one has such interesting brick work and inside you can see some of the original belt drive for the machines.
