ANT is a small bicycle fabrication shop run by Mike & Betsy Flanigan in eastern Massachusetts. We are dedicated to building bicycles for touring and transportation that have the right combination of function and style. Mike has been in the bike trade since 1983 and joined the Boston bike building scene in 1989. Betsy takes care of marketing, the website and is the bright force in Mike’s life :)
Since 2001 ANT had been dedicated to building bikes for transportation that have the right combination of function and style. ANT was the first handmade bicycle fabricator to focus solely on transportation. After 14 years of influence on the bike commuting market, we can say that ANT has helped turn around the bike industry’s focus away from the sport market to transportation. All major bicycle companies and many hand-built bicycle shops now have a product line that has the ANT style.
Mike has now closed up full time operations of ANT and has taken a position welding at Seven Cycles in Watertown MA. Seven is most known for their wonderful Titanium frames, but also makes steel and Carbon fiber bikes.
ANT will be offering a lugged touring frame set in 2015 in productions sizes, so stay tuned for updates. ANT is no longer teaching any frame building classes or building custom bicycles.
